Alpha Kappa Psi is Professional Fraternity, whose purpose is developing well-trained, ethical, skilled, resourceful, experienced business leaders. The Fraternity was founded at New York University in 1904 and is the oldest professional business fraternity. Today, it is among the twenty largest U.S. college fraternities with more than 200,000 members at more than 200 chapters in the US, Canada, and the UK. Alpha Kappa Psi chapters are located on more than two-thirds of the nations top 50 business schools.
Any student, male or female, in good standing enrolled at Portland State University.
Yes. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all majors, including those undecided, because every career requires professionalism and business skills.
A professional fraternity is a fraternity that draws its members from a specific field or profession. A professional business fraternity draws its members from many, or in the case with Alpha Kappa Psi, all fields and professions.
Like a social fraternity, AKPsi holds social events and offers many opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. However, all of our activities are held in a professional environment and focus on business related practices and ideals. AKPsi has unique blend of both the positives of a 'professional' fraternity and a 'social' fraternity; we combine the brotherhood found in Greek life, while providing the prestige, reputation, and professional training that are sought after in the Business world.
You can still join Alpha Kappa Psi. We do not compete with the social fraternities and sororities.
We are the oldest and largest professional business fraternity, and the only business fraternity to have active chapters overseas. Alpha Kappa Psi is recognized as the one of the premier developers of business leaders at the college level.
Alpha Kappa Psi provides opportunities for professional development and networking while attending Portland State University. It gives you the opportunity assume leadership positions, organize and coordinate events, and gain business experience, which you can then showcase to prospective employers and put yourself one step ahead of the rest of the crowd.
Membership in Alpha Kappa Psi will provide you with opportunities to develop social and professional skills, contribute back to the community and university, as well as make life long friends. Membership with Alpha Kappa Psi does not end after graduation; Alpha Kappa Psi’s nation-wide network of alumni chapters continue to provide opportunities for growth and networking throughout your career.
The time commitment is up to each individual member and how active you would like to be, but the more you put into Alpha Kappa Psi, the more you will get out of it.
Since Alpha Kappa is a national, non-profit organization, members are required to pay dues for operational purposes.
Upon joining AkPsi there is a one time due of $50. This covers registration with AKPsi nationally and locally. For all other dues, please see our
informational flyer.
Come to one of our upcoming events with a check for $50. You will be pinned and can start getting involved right away.
